Took a 1.5 hour trip this past weekend in the Supra and realized how uncomfortable the seats are for me on longer journeys. Mulling over swapping them out for something more comfortable depending on total cost. Honestly the stock seats are just really bad for my body, feels like sitting on cardboard.

I did some searching here and seems like most people have switched to a pure race seat. This is a street car for me, so I don't want a true race seat, just something softer and significantly more comfy that can still hold me in decently on spirited drives on the curves.

Should I look into swapping them for aftermarket seats or try and find a shop that makes custom seats? Never done this on any cars so just looking for input.

I came across the Recaro Expert M seats that seem like an upgrade in comfort over the stock seats, but I would lose the power adjustability. There is the Recaro Ergomed line too but they are super expensive and probably not worth it to me. What additional brackets/rails would I need in addition to the Recaro Expert M seats?

Has anyone ever had a custom seat made for this car or any others? Pros/cons of this route vs aftermarket seats like Recaro?

Thanks

There are a few threads on this already, FYI.

I did custom Recaro Sportster CS seats. Plug and play heating and airbags, sit about 1.5" lower (adjustable if youre not a giant like me).

Yessir, I saw yours and they are sweet but way more than I would want to spend, also I think the Sportster CS/GT are more race/bucket seat style where I would prefer something more comfort focused.

I drive 2-4 hours in them regularly on the way to the track. They're extremely comfortable, even compared to the stock seats.

Great, good to know thank you. So what all is require for plug and play, just the seats and Recaro slider kit?

You have to get them from AMX for the plug and play kit. You could get regular Sportster CS/GT for much less, but no heating or airbags.

Thanks, this is the info I was looking for. Don't care about heating, airbag I am not sure I would care as long as there is a way to code it out? Searched for info on coding out the airbag error but couldn't quite find a definitive answer on that.

Those Recaro looks so awesome, comfortable as well.

It’s got that OEM look, like it was a factory option.

I’m in the central FL area as well. I might bump up into you at a meet someday and check them out.

I find the stock seats uncomfortable. I noticed it the first time I sat in one and confirmed it after a few minutes of driving after buying it.

The area where I have problem with is the actual seat (Bottom part), not the lumbar or the back area.

same here, it’s the bottom that gets me and I’m not that heavy, 170-175lbs.

Same! Drove from NorCal to Washington (10 hour drive) and felt like heaven the whole time. That's me though, to each their own.
